New Music Monday 04/02/13

Incredibly strong release day to kick off February and already we are seeing albums of the year contenders. First of many is the return from the glorious Frightened Rabbit with free exclusive indies only 7”. Veronica Falls return with more lush indie pop, I love this band! Unknown Mortal Orchestra release their second with more warped psychedelic offerings (it’s even better than their first) – Grouper release an album that’s pleasing the critics. Jim James from My Morning Jacket releases his debut solo album (surely going to be good) and Darkstar return with electronica that’s both danceable and soulful…alright! BBC radio 6 favourites Night beds release some beautiful alt country, sure to be a break through year for this band. Thao and the get down, stay down release a very strong offering which features Joanna Newsome. Olof Arnalds Releases third album, sung entirely in English! Cheatahs release first official long play, and Amateur Best bring us sax, pop, dark, mixed influenced beauty tunes. Courtneeners return with less lad style things, and more jangly Madchester sounding things and newcomer Jimi Hendrix releases debut 7” (very limited collectors). He’s not bad on Guitar. MASSIVE DEEP BREATHE – wow, that was epic. Enjoy reading up on each album.
