Super organisms, we are delighted to welcome the outstanding LISSIE into our tiny massive ‘Tardis’, to perform some songs for you.

A powerful combination of heartfelt introspection and contemporary dream-pop, Lissie’s fourth studio album Castles marks the return of a singular voice in the modern American scene.

Written predominantly from Lissie’s new home in Northeastern Iowa, Castles represents a spiritual, as well as musical development: it’s a portrait of an artist who has always been on the move and is finally creating a sense of permanency; a chance to catch her breath and reflect.

Castles’ is released on 23rd March on LP with free exclusive print to the first 20 pre orders. (We’ll try and get some more fear not)

Listen out in store as we will regularly be playing our promotional copy, it really is the best!

P.S. – We will also create a pie in LISSIE’s honour, available on that day only – and Lissie to choose the filling and pastry – watch this space as we develop it in the pie lab!

MYSTERY GUEST to be announced soon

More about the bands…

Haley (Memphis Industries)

Following her acclaimed 2016 album Impossible Dream, HALEY (fka Haley Bonar) delivers two brand new songs for a record store day exclusive release on ltd edition red 7”!

Haley says of the songs: “These two songs are kind of the last ones I wrote with lyrics in them, at least, for the time being. Bratt was intended to be sung from a teenage perspective, appropriating that unsentimental attitude while simultaneously looking back at yourself at that age, all of the insecurities that went along with it, letting go of your self-judgement on the past. My Wave was intentional in its use of repetition and very few lyrics.”

BREATHE PANEL (Fat Cat Records)

Meeting at University, Josh Tyler, Nick Green and Benjamin Reeves sprung out of a vibrant scene of musicians playing and gigging together. Between writing in a shared house basement and taking long walks on the South Downs, Breathe Panel have crafted their own sound based around the intuitive song writing partnership of Josh and Nick.

Recalling thoughtful days spent outdoors, Nick’s vocals wash across bright, shimmering guitars and intricate drum patterns to create something beautifully expansive yet highly introspective. They combine writing about topics including anxiety, colours, people, memories and the cure of nature with capturing a sound that makes them feel good.

The latest from an incredible production line from Fat Cat records, these guys are sure to be BIG news.

BARBUDO (Pie&Vinyl Records)

Things are shifting up a gear for the south coast band Barbudo. This last year has seen them touring their EP Pleasures, to impressed, delighted and sold-out audiences around London and the south coast. Along with headline slots, Barbudo have provided support to the likes of The Big Moon, Superfood and Good Morning and will continue this with Babe Rainbow and other high profile shows and festivals later this year.

The Barbudo sound is an artful mix of irresistible alternative disco-funk tunes that will have you struggling to stand still and soulful mellow dreams to kick back and unwind to. Audiences are growing and being drawn into the slick, big sound they create at shows drowned in disco-light. Their songs are instantly memorable and engaging, helped by the band’s laid back feel and knack for intricate and soulful melodies.

Written and produced by brothers Ben and Harry Stanworth, a dose of Barbudo is a welcome antidote to the tensions and pressures of modern life.

The band has several releases penned. A video for the single “SXC” is due to be released Friday 23rd March, directed by Cosy Drive. It sees the band take on the role of small time gangsters in the retro setting of a funfair and Wimpy Burger.  The song is taken from the EP Pleasures, available to purchase on Cassette from the following link.

*Signed Cassette Tapes in limited ‘Milk’ colour will be available on the day

MELT DUNES (Strong Island Recordings)

Portsmouth psychedelic warlords Melt Dunes have been rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the fiercest live bands the U.K has to offer, warping the minds and bodies of anyone who comes into orbit and with only two singles released to date on both Strong Island Recordings and Fuzz Club, Melt Dunes’ are set to unleash their debut EP the ‘Flesh EP’ 16 March.

Emerging with the delirium of What’s Your Name?’; a rich and densely guitar-driven track, somewhat reminiscent of Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd toFlesh’,  a bludgeoning, motorik throb that throws a nod the kraut stylings of Can and Neu!. Flesh’s cacophonous thrash of an ending leaves little time to prepare for the eerily malevolentEpicaricacy’; a fitting soundtrack to a paranoid stumble through an abandoned carnival. Following this with the jagged simplicity of the bleak and hypnotic ‘Grotesque’, the quintet bring you an EP that combines elements of the gloom-psych shimmer of The Black Angels with the raucous aggression of The Stooges to sculpt a sound that is thoroughly unnerving . With their debut EP, Melt Dunes are certainly going to drag us all into the darkest depths of their psychedelic, fuzz-fueled realm.

JERRY WILLIAMS & Full Band (Unsigned)

Just back from playing at SXSW to great acclaim!

The last 12 months has seen 22 yr old Portsmouth based self-releasing Indie-pop artist achieve a growing number of serious musical landmarks, including confirming her debut at SXSW with an invite to perform at BBC Introducing’s flagship showcase at the British Music Embassy. Jerry also shone at the recent first fifty BBC Intro showcase for TGE 2018 as well as making her television debut on 4Music’s Trending Live and ITV’s Weekend shows. Jerry has been selected by Ticketmaster as one of their ‘Ones To Watch’ 2018 and has a slew of new music from her forthcoming album which she will be showcasing at her SXSW and 2018 gigs. Working with Foals and Slow Club producer Luke Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Fickle Friends producer James Earp, alongside long-time collaborator award winning producer Dan Brown.

Jerry has been globally supported from Spotify with streams at over 8 million and had the rare privilege of being placed on one of their Key Playlists, Moodbooster, at number one track. Vevo DSCVR live session is at 110k views, and her own music Video Views are now at over 750k .

HOTEL LUX (Unsigned)

Through their spectral garage punk, they blend the route one aggression of Dr Feelgood pub rock and the distorted urban landscapes of The Fall. Tales of hangmen and bankers, flushes of human greed and trickles of sickening guilt populate Hotel Lux’s music, and in particular Lewis Duffin’s lyrics. With its richly drawn characters and graphic landscapes, their songs have an impact more akin to the films of Loach, Leigh, and Meadows than any musical contemporaries.

“I’ve always said that film directors like Alan Clarke and Ken Loach are more influential to my lyrics than any other lyricist as such,” Duffin explains; “The visual sense of it is more important for me.” His penchant for highly visual lyrics is apparent even from the opening line of their very first single, ‘Envoi’, which depicts a man that “claws at the beermat, with debt on his mind”. Whilst the band spent the bulk of 2017 gigging almost weekly, it was their sole online release, causing the band’s live reputation to grow and grow.

They can also be found on an RSD 18 release, check out the live venue week LP.

The Iconic Play Dead is a creative tattoo studio and street art gallery based in Southsea.

My Dog Sighs’s style is characterised by the combination of melancholic and often naive portraiture with the use of found materials including abandoned food cans.

After 10 years of giving his art away for free as part of the now infamous Free Art Friday project, My Dog Sighs has this year finally found himself strapped in to a well-deserved meteoric rise. With an incredible international following in Israel, Japan and of course the UK, five sold out shows under his belt, and a strong following of staunchly loyal fans on social media; My Dog Sighs is fast becoming an important figure on the contemporary art scene. “My Dog Sighs’ work forms a narrative based on counterpointed poignancy that resonate with those that have the opportunity to find them. Moments of loss and then being found echo the materials used. Tin cans, once the receptacle of our sustenance, all too quickly rejected, thrown away, abandoned by a materialistic society keen to gorge on the new”

About the poster artist Tim Hall…

WHEN Tim Hall decided to have a go at creating his own comic, he had no idea just what a huge task he was taking on.

A professional artist and fan of comic books and metal music, he came up with the idea of creating a couple of test pages of a Vikingthemed story.

Three years and more than three thousand hours later, volume one of Skragbeard and the Vikings – Escape from Helheim is on the shelves.

Tim has always spent his time sketching. After university he worked in advertising and thinks this has honed his interest in creating art for a reason rather than for its own sake.
